Stage Left Comedy News:
In this week’s Stage Left Comedy news – Comedian Susan Rice performed to a full house at Old Liberty Theater in Ridgefield, Wa. This all happened over Thanksgiving weekend and with great planning and effort on our part to get the word out, we drew an audience just shy of a sold out show.
Of course everyone was there to see Rice perform, and she did not disappoint any of them! Susan, who has roots in nearby Longview, gave us all an outstanding performance. However, part of the night’s success was because a wonderful article written by Scott Hewitt, the Columbian Arts & Features Reporter.
We would like to thank Scott for his piece.
This is why we are choosing this as our our Stage Left Comedy News Feature. Here is a small excerpt:
“The morning The Columbian spoke with Rice, a couple of weeks ago, just happened to be the morning after comedian Louis C.K.’s lewd behavior added to the pile of similar sexual-harassment outrages in show business and politics that started growing in October.
Rice said she’s plenty familiar with the problem. “You aren’t on the road for as long as I was on the road without running into it,” she said. “Every single one of my dear friends who were wonderfully funny women had issues. Some had lots of issues. Lots worse than me.”
